In the Deep End

Having designed and built my own canoe, when I was fourteen, I ended up years later living on a beautiful 46' Nordahvn, 'MaƱana', in Hong Kong.
When I retired home to Australia I became distracted and built an RV7, aluminium two seat high performance aircraft.
A superb machine . . . but the siren calls.
A classic wooden boat is in order.
Having purchased the excellent plans of the Somes Sound 12 1/2 designed by John Brooks, I have jumped in the Deep End.
As we are renting whilst we have a new house built (with a big workshop), following Johns advice I have started on components that will be easy to move to the new abode and that will be needed in the early stages of building
I wish to thank, besides John Brooks for making it possible, those other builders that have shared so much valuable information on their own Somes Sound blogs and through the Wooden Boat Forum.
I hope down this exciting track, that I too can share my lessons learnt with other builders.
